As of today every American manufacture of automobiles is shutdown & some General Motors and Ford plants hope to reopen while Chrysler does not have any immediate plans for reopening. I thought this is what the bailout money was to avoid but it is obvious with the inventories stocked up they must sell them at a great discount before building more. The bailouts were ill-advised and amounts to throwing money away as the government has done for so long but will not be able to do far much longer I believe in my opinion. Those 5 million autoworkers will join the other unemployed already on Unemployment Security payrolls already bankrupt in every state and are surely on federal live support. General Motors imports 90 % of the parts they use to assemble their cars in America. South Korean cars are selling 7 to $15,000 but they say are throwaways after 3 years. After all after a 100 years Noah only saved his own family from the great flood and Lot only saved his family from the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah even then having his wife look back and turn into a pillow of salt. So now I am looking backwards and repenting of my negative attitude while coming against the tidal wave of positive thinkers telling us the world is going to last forever that we can now lay back and enjoy better things ahead. I cannot believe I wasted my life trying to turn things around and head off trouble by mapping a clear way my family could see to follow & neighbors. After all Martin Luther persecuted those who did not accept his doctrine as did John Calvin even had the state to put his heretic enemies to death. But, I keep on turning in this big omni circle to 200 degrees then 240 and before the words are out of my mouth I have returned to 360 degrees a complete circle back to where I started. Is this a direction I cannot change because when I go to Scripture I find Christ teaching in Matthew Chapter 24 and the original church that started on the day of Pentecost when the apostle Peter preached and 3000 were converted. We can go back in history or forward in time and there are signs on every corner warning us of things to come on the earth. When I first started flying my own plane in the late '60s my first trip to Charleston solo was my first night trip also in the darkest of the twilight with my father and brother in law on board. I forgot to reset my altimeter for the landing in Charleston at 150 ft. after taking off from Greenville 1040 ft. above sea level. I arrived at daybreak over the airfield too high to land so I did an immediate 360 turn with the nose down to lose enough altitude still landing on the last half of the runway just as an Eastern Airlines DC-9 zoomed by me with his engine's reversed having almost overtaken me. I was not brave but stupid for taking the flight without more experience. Years later 2 Eastern Airlines professional pilots taking off from Charleston to land at Charlotte made the same mistake in reverse landing in the trees and killing many people.
